Who We Are

Atelier Martis is operated by Reinout Van der Straeten, based in Ghent, Belgium. We design and handcraft jewellery and furniture using stainless steel. This website is located at ateliermartis.be.

What We Collect

We only collect personal data you provide directly to us:

• —Orders: name, email address, shipping address. Required to process and deliver your acquisition.
• —Bespoke inquiries, contact forms, and workshop bookings: name, email address, phone number (optional), and the message you write. Used solely to respond to your request.
• —Newsletter: email address only. You can unsubscribe at any time.

We do not collect data passively. There are no analytics scripts, advertising trackers, or social media pixels on this site.

Payment Processing

All payments are handled by Mollie Payments B.V., based in Amsterdam, Netherlands. We never see or store your card number, CVV, or full payment details — these are entered directly on Mollie's hosted payment page and processed entirely by them. Mollie is PCI DSS Level 1 certified.

Where Your Data Is Stored

Customer and inquiry data is stored in Supabase, which hosts our database on servers within the European Union (AWS eu-central-1, Frankfurt). Data does not leave the EEA.

Uploaded images (product media, reference images) are stored in Cloudflare R2, which stores data in the EU region.

Email Delivery

Transactional emails — order confirmations, gift cards, and booking acknowledgements — are sent via Resend (Resend, Inc., United States). Your email address is transmitted to Resend solely for the purpose of delivering these messages. Resend is GDPR compliant and does not use your data for marketing.

We do not send promotional emails unless you have explicitly subscribed to our newsletter, and you can unsubscribe at any time.

Cookies

We use essential session cookies only — specifically for cart persistence and your authentication session if you create an account. These cookies are strictly necessary for the site to function and do not require consent under Belgian law.

We do not use analytics cookies, advertising cookies, or any third-party tracking cookies. No cookie data is shared with advertising networks or data brokers.

How Long We Keep Your Data

• —Order records: retained for 7 years as required by Belgian accounting law (Wetboek van Economisch Recht).
• —Inquiry and booking records: retained for 3 years, then deleted.
• —Newsletter subscriptions: kept until you unsubscribe.

Your Rights Under GDPR

As a resident of the European Economic Area, you have the right to:

• —Erasure (right to be forgotten), subject to our legal retention obligations.
